Here we go again – white jeans part deux (previous post here). This time it’s super casual – (double) nautical stripes, jeweled sandals and my Warby Parker eyeglasses. Using this Tory Burch wallet as a pseudo-clutch, because sometimes it’s nice to take a break from your bag (and everything that fits inside).

If you like this look, I’ve compiled a bunch of items (at the end of the post) so you can shop for summer.

I understand that this post is a bit of a joke, because you can wear almost anything with white pants. They don’t pose much of a challenge, unless we’re talking about the art of wearing without spilling on them (for me, this is a nightmare). Regardless, the next three posts will be about dressing up or dressing down white denim, in honor of Memorial Day and the antiquated “fashion ban” having been lifted on white…until Labor Day (hah).

Part I: White-out. Don’t be afraid to pile it on (though there can be many subtle color variations in white fabrics – they’re not always easy to match). This is a bit of a dressier outfit: my new favorite shoes and a creamy lace t-shirt under a fitted blazer. The layers of texture (linen, lace, smooth white denim, leather) add dimension and help to break up the white. Plus, a bit of sheerness (with the lace t-shirt) makes it the teeniest bit sexy. Finishing touches? A colorful necklace and tons of bracelets.

I absolutely love these colors together. The pretty blues, soft pinks and corals are all offset by that unexpected buzzing yellow (it’s almost neon). Plus, I have a nice little sunburn to tie everything together! With so many colors (and a wildly patterned top), I always think it’s best to go simple with jewelry – a few little sparkles here and there (staying within the same color palette, too).

Since the weather isn’t exactly hot yet (by any means…), light layers are the way to go. With the addition of a casual beach tote and a flower clip in your hair, you can at least look like you’re ready for summer.

Shop the outfit right here:

chambray button up: zara // top: leifsdottir (old) // shorts: lucky brand // flats: tory burch // bag: j.crew // jewelry: j.crew, david yurman

Where am I? Outside the Artcliff Diner on Martha’s Vineyard. One of my all time favorite food spots (and they have a food truck!). Stay tuned for more “vacation-wear” features in the next few days.
