I’m so, so in love with this leather jacket. I bought it on sale from Mackage after a lengthy search for “the perfect leather jacket” (and one that I could actually afford). It took nearly a month to arrive, disappearing into a black hole while it traveled through customs, so I spent a lot of time second-guessing my decision. However, it was worth the wait.

Why did I choose this particular jacket? I loved the look of the soft broken-in leather (almost distressed), the belt, and all of the gold zips and snaps. You can find the jacket here in brown and yellow leather, but Mackage also has tons of similar styles available (I like this one and this one too).

A well-made leather jacket is one of those items I can really justify splurging on – it’ll last forever, and it instantly adds a touch of cool to any outfit. Leather is inescapable this season, but it’s by no means a temporary trend. I wore mine with a simple pleated skater skirt from Zara, basic t-shirt and strappy heels that complement the jacket’s straps. A haircalf leopard clutch adds some texture and pattern to the otherwise simple black and white combo.

booties galore

I’ve had booties on the brain recently. Perfect booties. You know what I’m talking about – the kind you wear on your feet, the exclamation point to your fall wardrobe. I wanted to write a quick post and spread the wealth, because Gilt Groupe has an amazing selection of boots, booties (and more) right now. If you aren’t a Gilt member yet, go ahead and sign up here. Game changer.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I’m starting this Monday with a simple outfit post: a cute honey bee crepe top by Ella Moss paired with dark, distressed denim skinnies. I’m really digging this top’s vent/slit detail and longer hem in back — and, of course, I LOVE the adorable bumblebee print. It has a summery feel, but it can be worn into the fall too — think: jeans, booties and a moto jacket.

I dressed up the simple combination with black pointed toe pumps and a metallic jacket, but the styling possibilities are endless. You can shop for all of the pieces below, plus more.

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my smart, talented and beautiful mother!
