Here’s today’s dose of beachwear – another bright and beautiful bikini from i love koi (see yesterday’s look here). And I’m excited to announce a Friday treat for you: i love koi is generously sponsoring a giveaway where the winner (one lucky lady) will be able to pick her favorite swimsuit from the collection – just in time for spring/summer. Have you seen all of the cute bikinis, retro high-waisted suits and sexy one pieces?

It’s easy to enter the giveaway. All you have to do is ‘like’ City Tonic on Facebook and fill out your email on the entry page. You’re limited to one entry per day, but you can score bonus entries by sharing with friends or tweeting the giveaway link. The contest will run until Monday, April 7th and the winner will be chosen at random and announced later that week.

When I’m packing for a beach vacation, my bikini selection is of utmost importance (it’s a good thing they don’t take up too much space!). But let’s be serious: a bikini that fits well and makes you feel comfortable (even on a crowded beach) can be a hard thing to find. What it comes down to is the ability to enjoy your time at the beach or pool without worrying about how you look in your suit. Without adjusting (and readjusting) bottoms that are too tight on your hips, or that ride up in the back as soon as you move. And, of course, avoiding that awkward moment when you realize the triangles on your bikini top have migrated.

When I was introduced to i love koi, a brand that recently launched in the US after being established in the Philippines, I immediately liked the bright colors and unique details – pretty pleats, frills and knots. There are tons of styles to choose from, in colors that are super vibrant and flattering. Also, the quality of the fabric is worlds away from what you find at Target and Forever 21 (and I’m not hating on those brands – I own plenty of their bikinis!), but you can be sure that i love koi bikinis will hold up summer after summer. This particular style has a structured, ruched top that’s flirty without being scandalous.

Anyways, swimwear is a weird and tricky area for every woman – and because of this, I felt a little ambivalent about posting bikini pictures on my blog and simply being so…exposed. But I honestly felt comfortable in this suit and wanted to share my thoughts on a newly discovered brand. I’ll be posting another beach look tomorrow, so check back then!

I feel very fortunate to be on vacation after a long and difficult winter — it’s been super relaxing and feels great to take some time off from my computer and iPhone. The best part of all this lounging is that I’ve actually had time to read! It’s day five of vacation and I’m on my fourth book (reading list so far: Defending JacobThe Fault in Our StarsThe Silent WifeThe Storyteller – definitely some good options if you’re looking for beach reads).

Anyways, with a relaxing vacation comes casual outfits. After months and months of strategically dressing in layers and wearing shoes that won’t get ruined in snow/slush, it feels amazing (and almost too easy) to throw on some colorful jean shorts, sandals and a loose knit sweater. I haven’t worn makeup or done anything about my hair – except letting the sun lighten up my ends so I can get closer to Jared Leto’s epic ombré.

Check back soon for a post featuring some new bikinis!
