Lou & Grey, created under the Ann Taylor LOFT umbrella, specializes in the kind of style that’s both enviable and approachable – it’s effortless, chic and (most importantly) super, super comfortable. If you’ve shopped at LOFT in the past few months, you’ve probably noticed a little section of the store (or website) dedicated to a collection of texture-rich neutrals and stylish loungewear. Since its launch, that collection has burgeoned into a standalone brand – and brick and mortar stores are starting to open across the country. Last week, I got to check out the newest store (only the second location to open!) at the Natick Mall, just outside of Boston. After a long day at work, I was almost too tired to shop – but I forgot about my exhaustion pretty quickly once I walked in. The store has a breezy, laid-back vibe (maybe even serene?) – with white-washed walls, marble tabletops and racks of dreamy knits. The store feels like a natural extension of Lou & Grey’s aesthetic: effortlessly cool, minimalist (in a non-obnoxious way) and really accessible. Plus, I couldn’t help but admire the lovely ampersand that decorates the space (it’s also printed on the shopping bags and tissue paper), being the typography nerd that I am.
Everything is laid out neatly – stacks of sweaters and denim, delicate jewelry, small home accessories and apothecaries – all artfully arranged on tables throughout the store. The clothes look so soft and inviting, it’s sort of expected that you’ll want to walk around and touch everything (I did) or try on about a million pieces (I did that too). The fabrics are out of this world (especially the signature tees) – you need to feel it to believe it. I ended up getting the textured jacket and silky light blue shirt I’m wearing in these photos, as well as this flattering and versatile dress that you’ll see in an upcoming outfit post, for sure.
I think it’s pretty great to see a brand championing this kind of uncomplicated, comfortable style while still managing to stay chic. And Lou & Grey does it in a refreshing, friendly way. I definitely recommend a visit to the Natick Mall store if you live in the area. If not, I pulled together a few of my favorite Lou & Grey pieces at the end of the post so you can shop online!
