black friday (ONLINE!) cheatsheet

I hope you had a lovely, food-filled Thanksgiving! So, since I have no desire to venture out to stores and experience the craziness of Black Friday, I’m more than happy to shop the sales from the comfort of my apartment. And it seems that “Cyber Monday” has come early this year – lots of stores have already started taking markdowns and offering site-wide discounts. To make it easy, I rounded up some of the best sales you’ll find online today (and through the weekend) so you can peruse and purchase to your heart’s content. I went through and picked a few favorite items from some of the major players (J.Crew, Piperlime, etc.), too. Check below for a list of more good sales at the end of the pos and enjoy the opportunity for early Christmas shopping (and self-gifting)!

It’s that time again – for holiday gift guides! First up is what I like to call the “little somethings” category, which covers hostess gifts, your newly married or engaged friends, and more. Any requests? Let me know in the comments section below and I’ll pull together a guide just for you.

Shopping details:

1. Cute coasters from Jonathan Adler for your animal-loving friends.
2. A striped passport case, sleep mask and luggage tag for the jetsetter on your list.
3. Gold geometric stoppers dress up any bottle (and make a perfect hostess gift).
4. A cozy ombré throw for cold winter nights.
5. A mixology kit that will make any Bloody Mary enthusiast happy.
6. Embrace winter in an oversized scarf (with a punch of plaid).
7. For your favorite couple: his and hers slippers.

Hope you had a lovely week/weekend (and I’m sorry for my lack of posting last week… was in NYC for work!). Anyways, I’m back in action – working on some gift guides, holiday party shopping tips and a few wintry outfits to post in the next few weeks.

Today’s post is all about keeping it neutral (but still interesting). With monochromatic neutral outfits like this one, I usually try to mix cool tones (like the gray of my pants & top) with warmer tones (the camel coat) – so there’s still some dimension. To anchor the look and add a little contrast, I wore white pumps and an ivory wool hat. Since it’s easy to fall into a pattern of dressing in dark grays and blacks when it’s chilly out, I wanted to keep the outfit lighter but still maintain the effortless and chic look of a neutral palette.

I’ve been on the hunt for a perfect camel coat for awhile now, and finally ended up buying this one from Zara after a stylish coworker of mine did (I couldn’t help it… it was just what I had been looking for!). Anyways, I’ve been wearing it quite a bit recently since it makes every outfit feel a little more sophisticated (it topped off the black ripped jean/black sweater/chelsea boot combo I wore most of the time I was in New York).

Outfit details:
