2014: year in review

Well, it’s been a great year. I’m so thankful for all the great opportunities and support for City Tonic in 2014 and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead in 2015. Thank you so much for reading… and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here’s a recap of some of my favorite outfits:

Long time no see! I hope you had a lovely Christmas! I’m finally back to business (blogging, I mean) after getting swept up in a whirlwind of holiday excitement. The most exciting bit: Kevin proposed on Christmas Eve! So it’s official… I’m engaged and over the moon thinking about spending my life with such a great person. Okay, enough with the mushiness. Wanted to get a new post up quickly and a party-ready outfit feels totally appropriate. This metallic skirt (now on sale here) is ideal for New Years (and beyond) with its high-waisted and perfectly poufy cut. I paired it with a simple white v-neck top and boxy wool topcoat – plus a pair of striped pumps for a hint of playfulness.

P.S. I’m leaving for Costa Rica on Wednesday, but plan to post while I’m there (as long as the internet connection cooperates). More soon!

I’ve been obsessing over this coat since I first saw it glowing in a J.Crew store. And I was pretty lucky to score it on sale when doing some Christmas shopping with my mom last weekend (thanks for the early Christmas present, mom!). I’ve never been one to shy away from bright colors – and this neon red is no exception. But I’ve definitely gotten some shocked looks (slash temporarily blinded people) while wearing it in public. The wool seems to emit a fluorescent glow, I swear. But I plan to keep it in heavy rotation this winter – as an act of rebellion against the chilly gray Boston winter ahead. I wore a simple white and black combo under my vibrant cocoon, so the contrast would be even more intense. A pair of pointy snakeskin pumps (from one of Gilt’s in-house brands, Maiden Lane) adds a hint of neutral texture.
