I hope your week is off to a good start! So, a long time ago my grandfather built a house in Jamaica and I grew up going there with my family (I know… pretty lucky). It was such a big part of my life (I actually never felt like a tourist) but when I was in high school, my family sold the property. Anyways, I think those memories of being in Jamaica are why I’ll always be drawn to crazy tropical prints like the one on this Rebecca Minkoff dress – with spiky pineapples and exotic flora. The wild print instantly gave me a pang of nostalgia and reminded me of the bold fabric covering the wicker furniture and bedspreads in the Jamaica house.
Recently I’ve been on a bit of a tropical kick (you’ll see more in upcoming posts, I assure you) and I plan to wear these prints as much as possible before summer’s over. Luckily there are plenty of brands and designers who seem to feel the same way this season – so there’s no shortage of palm fronds and pineapples to choose from. To really make the print pop, I added a crisp white jacket with a beaded collar, plus blue pastel pumps and a cobalt YSL bag to bring out the blues in the dress.
