I hope everyone had a great weekend! I spent a solid four hours on Sunday experimenting with a DIY project that I’m excited to share later this week (classic Sunday CRAFTernoon). Then I celebrated my dog’s 3rd birthday by sitting on the couch and watching football. I know, I know – my life sounds pretty glamorous.

However, I did enjoy a pretty glam treat on Saturday: a blowdry appointment at Be Styled in Chestnut Hill (hence why my hair looks way better than usual in these pics). I was really excited to try out the local blowdry bar chain, and the whole experience was fantastic. You sit, get washed and dried (you can pick any style… loose curls, beachy waves, sleek and straight, etc.) – and I did all this while sipping a yummy cappuccino, watching Bridget Jones’ Diary and chatting with my stylist, Kim. It was such a nice change of pace and it put me in a great mood. I would definitely recommend booking yourself an appointment as a weekend treat.

My Saturday outfit: a simple sheath dress with black piping from LOFT,  black Zara coat and heeled Frye boots. Classic, dark, structured – perfect for museum dates, dinner and other fun weekend activities in the city.

POPbeauty makeup giveaway!

Here’s a great way to start your week — with a giveaway of two makeup essentials from one of my favorite beauty brands, POPbeauty! The winner will receive POPbeauty’s Peak Performance Mascara and Face Magnet Primer: two amazing products to keep you looking fresh and pretty this summer. With its revolutionary brush, this mascara will fan out every lash for some crazy intense volume. The primer works like a magnet to keep your makeup stuck where it’s supposed to (a huge help in humid weather…) and also de-puffs, de-shines and de-reddens your face. Want to try them out? Just head on over to the city tonic Facebook page and enter your name. A random winner will be selected at the end of the week!

things to love: POPbeauty nail glam

Painting my nails has turned into an almost therapeutic ritual for me. As a result, my nail polish collection is pretty extensive – it’s become a joke with my boyfriend that I should open a chain of nail salons. I love trying weird nail art tutorials and new trends (I like to think of myself as a “glitter accent nail” pioneer) to help my far-from-dainty hands look a bit prettier.

Anyways, I recently purchased two POPbeauty Nail Glam colors, straying from my go-to brands (Essie, OPI, Deborah Lippmann when I feel like splurging). Now I’m smitten! Since then, I’ve worn those two colors repeatedly (Baby Blue and Ablaze). Sara from POPbeauty was nice enough to send me more Nail Glam colors to try out, as well as some other great products that you’ll see in future posts (thank you!!). The colors are really vibrant (hard to capture properly in photos), and the polish itself is creamy so it brushes on evenly. I only had to use two coats to get this super rich color.

Stay tuned – a giveaway is on the horizon!
