Now that I’m back in dreary Boston, it’s slightly depressing to browse through photos of sleeveless dresses and sandals while I’m wrapped up in a faux fur blanket…but it does make me appreciate the recent getaway to South Beach even more. This winter has taken its toll on everyone, and I think we’ll all be incredibly thankful when spring decides to make an appearance (she’s fashionably late, I suppose).
Anyways, I forced my boyfriend to snap these photos one evening before dinner – outside the gorgeous hotel where we were staying: the Redbury on Collins Ave. The hotel just opened in December, so it feels really fresh and modern – not over-the-top glitzy like some of the other hotels in the area. I loved this little outdoor lounge area, with its chic black and white tiles, bright red chairs and industrial metal accents. But most of all, I loved the string lights criss-crossing overhead (I have a crazy obsession with string lights, as seen in my old Beacon Hill apartment).
Little silk dresses, like this black and white Parker number, are perfect for warm vacations because they pack easily (just be sure to hang and un-wrinkle when you arrive). Bonus: silk feels great on sunburnt skin! I love the lace up back on this dress because it adds a hint of sexiness to an otherwise conservative silhouette. And if you’ve ever been to South Beach and seen what most ladies wear (…or don’t wear), you’d understand that I was basically dressed like a 17th century Puritan woman, in comparison. Totally fine with that though.
