Happy Friday! Okay, first, because I’m still giddy about it… my dreams came true this week and I got to meet my lady crush and fashion idol, Jenna Lyons, in person at a J.Crew event in Boston. She was super cool and friendly – and (of course) effortlessly stylish and chic. I was actually wearing these same vegan leather leggings in dark green at the event, and she said she liked them(!). So they’re my new favorites.
Anyways, just had to get that off my chest. Phew. Today’s post is all about embracing fall weather by piling on the light layers – and if you live in New England, this is basically a requirement. This outfit is actually pretty minimal (shirt, denim vest, wool coat) – I would’ve added a sweater if it had been colder. In my opinion, layering works best when you’re working with different prints or textures (in this case: silk, denim & wool) to add some interest. Which is why I threw on the denim vest (might seem like an odd choice?). I actually bought it back in July, but haven’t worn it much until now! It seems to work a lot better over light sweaters and button-downs than summery dresses. And I love the light distressed wash.
With the addition of some rose gold metallic pumps (my wedding shoes!) and my new carry-all tote from Cuyana, the overall outfit ends up feeling pretty cohesive and neutral – despite the different layers.
Have a fun, candy-filled Halloween weekend!
