I’m so, so in love with this leather jacket. I bought it on sale from Mackage after a lengthy search for “the perfect leather jacket” (and one that I could actually afford). It took nearly a month to arrive, disappearing into a black hole while it traveled through customs, so I spent a lot of time second-guessing my decision. However, it was worth the wait.

Why did I choose this particular jacket? I loved the look of the soft broken-in leather (almost distressed), the belt, and all of the gold zips and snaps. You can find the jacket here in brown and yellow leather, but Mackage also has tons of similar styles available (I like this one and this one too).

A well-made leather jacket is one of those items I can really justify splurging on – it’ll last forever, and it instantly adds a touch of cool to any outfit. Leather is inescapable this season, but it’s by no means a temporary trend. I wore mine with a simple pleated skater skirt from Zara, basic t-shirt and strappy heels that complement the jacket’s straps. A haircalf leopard clutch adds some texture and pattern to the otherwise simple black and white combo.
