The jumpsuit: a slightly weirder, long-legged relative of the romper – and an item that can be kinda intimidating to wear (misgivings include: a potentially unflattering fit, how it should be styled and when/where it can be worn). I’m a big fan of rompers in the summer, but tackling the look for winter is a different story.
I’ve had my eye on some of the gorgeous jumpsuits out there – like this beaded beauty by Parker and slinky silhouettes from Trina Turk and J Brand – but I decided to try out the trend with a super budget-friendly version that I found at TJ Maxx ($19!). This one is loose and comfortable, with a cinched waist that helps define and add shape (crucial). And a low-cut crossover top that’s perfect for a night out. I kept the rest of the outfit pretty minimal (wearing very little jewelry) and layered on a lightweight trench. Next time, I’ll wear a blazer for a more polished, menswear-inspired look.
A simple jumpsuit is surprisingly versatile, so it’s also easy to glam up (think: metallic belt, sequined blazer, layered necklaces…). Personally, I’m always excited to find a comfortable, chic alternative to a dress when I’m getting ready to go out… especially during the winter.
