I like to think of this as a classic outfit with an urban twist. The red gingham shirt is a summery staple (I see you, picnic tablecloths circa 1950) — and tucking it casually into mid-rise white jeans furthers that retro look. But with the addition of studded sandals and a military-esque jacket, the outfit gets an urban update.

Finishing touches: my Clare Vivier leopard flat clutch, and another awesome pair of sunglasses from Warby Parker — the Griffin in Blonde Tortoise. (The people who design the frames for WP must be magical. I honestly love all the styles I’ve worn so far, can’t even pick a favorite.) These are rounded and vintage-looking — I think the light tortoise color (almost an apricot hue) looks really pretty with a tan.

If you’re wondering about the location in these photos – it’s Thomas Park in South Boston (my favorite place to walk the dog and go for evening runs). The view of the city is unreal and the grass is always perfect.
