Soft, creamy winter whites can look so elegant and chic. Though many people avoid it during the colder months, white is still fair game – especially in seasonally-friendly fabrics like wool or cashmere. Stick to pieces with simple cuts and clean lines, and pair white with darker colors for more impact (think: wool shift dress or skirt with dark tights and heels). When it comes to dressing in neutrals, most of us reach for grays and beiges in the winter – so, sometimes even the addition of a creamy white scarf can bring your outfit up a notch. Just don’t go spilling coffee on it.
I decided to work some color into this look with a tassel print silk button down from The Shirt by Rochelle Behrens (love the classically feminine combo of rosy pink and white). And, by the way: The Shirt is a game changer. (Oprah named The Shirt her “must have fashion item” of the year… so you KNOW it’s good.) All of their button downs are “gape free” (that means no accidental bra flashing), thanks to some seriously brilliant dual button technology (check it out here). In either classic shirting cotton or silk, a well-tailored button down is a major wardrobe staple (and so easy to style with your winter whites).
